Toastmasters International is the largest, not for profit, public speaking and leadership organisation in the world. Toastmasters has over 16,000 clubs and 300,000+ members globally which help members develop public speaking and leadership skills. Toastmasters is over 100 years old – so it has helped a lot of people find their voice.
Hull Speakers is the Toastmasters club for Hull, the East Riding and North Lincolnshire. Like all other Toastmasters clubs we are not for profit and follow the Toastmasters programmes which develops public speaking skills, both formal and impromptu, as well as developing leadership and soft skills. All Toastmasters clubs are run by the members who volunteer to help manage the Toastmasters programmes.
Toastmasters clubs are a very inexpensive way to learn these skills – and everyone can learn public speaking. There is no magic to it. It is like learning to swim – you learn the techniques and the pool never daunts you again. You learn by learning (materials and educational sessions), by doing and by getting feedback from evaluators and an audience of other members. That way you will learn how an audience sees you and adapt your style to always come over in the best possible way. That’s what we are about!
