Join Us!
Toastmasters prefers visitors to come to club meetings for 2-3 meetings free as our guest. This lets you see how it works. Even if you do not join you will certainly be a better speaker afterwards.
After seeing the club at work we hope you will wish to improve your public speaking skills and join us. Membership involves three things:
- Paying a one-off fee of £35 which goes to Toastmasters International.
- Setting up a direct debit for a nominal, monthly subscription of £12.50 to your club; here it is Hull Speakers.
- Signing up to the Ten Promises of Toastmasters. Toastmasters clubs are organised by their members and not paid employees. A small number of club meeting roles are needed to be support meetings. These really strengthen soft skills. Once members are settled into the club you may be asked to perform one of these roles. There’s never any pressure. We also help train people but they really are not demanding at all.
Toastmasters is not for profit. The one-off fee funds the HQ that produces the materials and lets you move to other clubs and continue your journey should your career move you almost anywhere in the world. The monthly fee is simply to pay out of pocket expenses of the club; for example, hotel rooms and some physical materials.
